When you’re looking for a greater return and can put your money aside for a set term that you choose (91 days to 24 months), a share certificate is for you.  You can open a BGCU share certificate for as little as $2,000 ($1,000 for those under 18).  You’ll get a competitive rate that is guaranteed for the term of the certificate.  If you have a substantial deposit, you may want to ask your Member Service Representative about staggering several certificates so money becomes available to you throughout the year.  There is a penalty for early withdrawal.
